Frances has won a Social Enterpreneur Award (level 2) for her work with the RISE foundation. Social Entrepreneurs Ireland aims to encourage and support the development of social entrepreneurship in Ireland. Their mission of promoting social entrepreneurship will be realised by fostering the early stage development of a new generation of social entrepreneurs and by actively working in conjunction with the business, third level, public and voluntary sectors to support the development of a new social entrepreneurship movement. Singer Frances Black set up The RISE Foundation in 2006 to assist families of addicts to understand the nature of the disease of addiction and the profound effects it has on relationships.

Frances has been asked to perform at the "Pertshire Amber- The Dougie MacLean Festival " in Pertshire, Scotland on Sunday 8th Nov 2009. The concert is called "The Caledonia Concert", which will include very special musicians who have covered Dougie McLean's songs from different parts of the world. Dougie MacLean specially requested that Frances would join the festival on that special night. She will perform 3 or 4  songs (including This Love Will Carry).
