19 August 2010 Frances will be on Radio Ulster in a program entitled 'Rathlin's Black History'. The programme is going out on BBC Radio Ulster on Monday 30 August (Bank Holiday) from 6pm - 7pm. It will be available on the BBC iPlayer for one week after that and can be accessed through bbc.co.uk/radioulster
6 June 2010 Two new successes for Frances' RISE foundation:
  • Mark O'Doherty won the vodafone world of difference award for the RISE foundation. All of the judges were very impressed with Mark's passion to help families of loved ones who are affected by addiction. Within his new role, Mark will create awareness of the Foundation throughout Ireland by developing a communications strategy as well as PR support activity.
  • RISE has been nominated for a Social Enterpreneurs Ireland award.

4 June 2010 A message from Frances: "Only 3 more days to go to do tha mini marathon, I am feeling guilty because I didnt do any training at all this week.If you are there on the day keep your eye out for 100 women wearing RISE foundation t shirts having a laugh....

Frances has won a Social Enterpreneur Award (level 2) for her work with the RISE foundation. Social Entrepreneurs Ireland aims to encourage and support the development of social entrepreneurship in Ireland. Their mission of promoting social entrepreneurship will be realised by fostering the early stage development of a new generation of social entrepreneurs and by actively working in conjunction with the business, third level, public and voluntary sectors to support the development of a new social entrepreneurship movement. Singer Frances Black set up The RISE Foundation in 2006 to assist families of addicts to understand the nature of the disease of addiction and the profound effects it has on relationships.

27 April 2009 Frances has been asked to perform at the "Pertshire Amber- The Dougie MacLean Festival " in Pertshire, Scotland on Sunday 8th Nov 2009. The concert is called "The Caledonia Concert", which will include very special musicians who have covered Dougie McLean's songs from different parts of the world. Dougie MacLean specially requested that Frances would join the festival on that special night. She will perform 3 or 4  songs (including This Love Will Carry). 20 October 2008 Frances' new album The Essential Frances Black has now gone to number 6 in the Irish album charts.
10 October 2008 Frances' new album The Essential Frances Black went to number 14 in the Irish album charts in the first week of its release.
3 October 2008 Welcome to Frances Black's new website. Besides changing the layout, we also have added some new features:
  • Audio player containing five full track by Frances. This includes two tracks that are currently only available on this site. The audio player can be access from frontpage or the audio section. It can also be opened in a separate window so you can keep listening to the tracks while browsing.
  • Added a video section to the website contains (links to) several video's of Frances.
  • Frances new album The Essential Frances Black is now available in the shop on this website.
  • Updated biography.
  • New menu system that should make navigating the site easier.
  • Added some new photographs to the slideshow on the front page.

26 September 2008 Unfortunately, Emily will not be part of the Essential Frances Black album as there were too many songs for the second disc. However, the song can still be downloaded from this site for free.
11 September 2008 I am happy to announce that The Essential Frances Black Collection will be released on 3 October 2008 in Ireland. This 40-track album contains the best of all Frances' songs from all her past albums, including songs from the no longer available Don't Get Me Wrong album that was released on the Sony label. The album also contains the track Emily that has never been released before on any of the albums, but which has been available as a free digital download from Frances' website.
8 July 2008 I am happy to inform you that a new compilation album of Frances will be released in September, titled The Essential Frances Black Collection. With this new album, Frances will also tour through Ireland to perform at 14 concerts. For a list of all these concerts see the concert page.
