Take Me Out For... Frances Black

From Glasgow Evening Herald

Dinner
My father comes from Rathlin Island, off the Northern Irish coast, and although most of the family have passed on, I love going back there. I enjoy eating at the Manor House Guest House because when I'm there I'm at my most relaxed.

Music
My first choice would be James Taylor – he's amazing. I'd also like to see Dougie MacLean as I have all his albums but I've never yet seen him live. I used one of his songs, This Love Will Carry, as the title track on my album.

Cinema
I haven't been to see a film recently, but my favourite of all time is The Shawshank Redemption, followed by It's a Wonderful Life.

Theatre
The Olympia in Dublin is very handy for me. Sometimes I look to see what's on that night and go. It's a beautiful, ornate building with a really magical atmosphere. I look forward to playing there.

Dancing
This New Year's Eve was the best ever. I was on Rathlin at my cousin's party. Musicians came over for a fantastic ceilidh.

Company
I'd like to chat with Nelson Mandela, Marilyn Monroe and James Taylor, who I met once and who made me speechless.

Romance
There are caves in Lanzarote with a restaurant overlooking a lake. I spent the most romantic night ever with my husband Brian there.
