Frances elected as Senator

Frances Black has been elected as Senator in the Irish Seanad

This is her thank you message:
Thank you to you all for your lovely messages of support. What an honour and privilege to be elected to the Seanad yesterday, especially in the year of the centenary celebrations. I have to say I'm slightly shocked but absolutely over the moon. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the County Councillors and TD's that voted for me and believed in me. I won't let you down. I will work hard to be the voice of the vulnerable in society. I have come to realise that it's the vulnerable in society that need a voice in the Seanad. There are many issues that concern me, and I will be passionate about fighting for all of them. I believe a society should be judged by how it treats it’s people, whether they be impacted by addiction, suicide or mental health issues, disabled, homeless or elderly. We all know the issues impacting on our vulnerable citizens but we need to ensure this is discussed and action taken at a national level. I promise I will give my full commitment to do this. So thank you again to all who voted for me, I am deeply grateful!!
